A Night of Living History: Surgery & The Victorian Operating Theatre

  • The Old Operating Theatre Museum and Herb Garret 9a Saint Thomas Street London, England, SE1 9RS United Kingdom (map)

Dan Saski and Janet Collard return to the Old Operating Theatre Musuem & Herb Garret to perform their moving performance of the events that took place in our operating theatre on the 30th of April 1824.

On that day, Mr. Benjamin Travers operated on Mrs. Elizabeth Raigen. How did Mr. Travers performed surgery in the operating theatre? What happened to Elizabeth? Did she live? With a combination of expressive dance and theatrical performance, they will express the emotional weight experienced by Elizabeth in the women’s ward and the operating table, as well as the determination of Mr Benjamin Travers as he taught a group of students how to do surgery. This is a night of living history that you do not want to miss!
